Plex, from install to first channel
Plex isn't an IPTV player, but its Live TV section can show IPTV channels. A computer at home runs Plex Media Server and Threadfin, a free bridge that presents your IPTV Strong 8K playlist as a TV tuner, and the Plex apps on your account, consoles and Roku included, then play the channels.
- No contract
- 7-day refund
- Login in ~60s

It uses M3U playlist and XMLTV guide loaded into Threadfin, which Plex treats as a TV tuner. Choose a plan, message us on WhatsApp, and expect your login details in about a minute. There's no contract and no card on file waiting to be charged again: plans are prepaid, with a 7-day refund window.
Quick facts: Plex
Plex: Quick facts
- Cost: the app is free; live TV through a tuner needs a Plex Pass
- Plays on: PlayStation, Xbox, and Roku OS, among the many devices with a Plex app
- Login type: M3U playlist and XMLTV guide loaded into Threadfin, which Plex treats as a TV tuner
- Guide: reads XMLTV/EPG data from the provider
- Good match for: Roku Streaming Stick 4K and Roku Ultra
- Known for: a media server whose Live TV section plays IPTV through a tuner bridge, at the cost of a Plex Pass and a computer left on
Signing in to Plex
Plex has no login field for IPTV. Instead, Threadfin, a free tuner bridge, reads your M3U link and XMLTV guide and presents them to Plex as if they were an antenna tuner.
In Plex Media Server, open Settings > Live TV & DVR and set up a DVR with Threadfin as the tuner. Once the guide is matched, every Plex app on your account, consoles included, shows the channels under Live TV.
Settings worth changing
Plex: Settings worth changing
- Tuner count: set it in Threadfin to the number of screens on your plan, so Plex never opens more streams than the login allows.
- Guide: have Threadfin refresh the XMLTV data every day.
- Channels: map only the ones you watch; Plex works best with a few hundred, not thousands.
- Playback: if the console stutters, check that the server is direct-streaming rather than transcoding.
Alternatives worth knowing
Kodi is free, runs on 7 platforms and needs an add-on. MyIPTV Player is free, runs on 2 platforms and loads M3U playlists. Plex, by comparison, is free to install but needs a Plex Pass for live TV and covers 3 platforms. The same login works in all of them, so trying a second player costs nothing but a few minutes.
