Nothing below needs technical skill or new hardware. Each step rules out one cause, and most people are done before they reach the end.
The usual causes: TiviMate 5.1 No Sound
TiviMate 5.1 No Sound: The usual causes
- Surround audio. Many channels carry Dolby Digital (AC3) or Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3), and some players or TVs can’t decode it, so they play the picture in silence.
- Passthrough. With passthrough on, the player hands raw surround audio to the TV or soundbar; if that equipment can’t decode it, you hear nothing.
- The wrong audio track. Some channels and most films carry several tracks, and the player may pick an empty one.
- One channel at fault. If only one channel is silent, the feed itself may have lost its audio.
- Mute and volume. HDMI-CEC links the TV and device remotes, so a mute on one shows up as silence on the other.
The fix, in order
TiviMate 5.1 No Sound: The fix, in order
- Try other channels. Switch to two or three other channels. Silence everywhere points to a setting; silence on one channel points to the feed.
- Change the audio track. During playback, open the player’s options and pick another audio track, ideally a stereo one.
- Turn passthrough off. In the player’s audio or playback settings, switch audio passthrough off so the device decodes the sound itself.
- Set the device to stereo. In the device’s sound settings (Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio on Fire TV), choose stereo or PCM instead of automatic surround.
- Switch the decoder. If the player offers it, change between hardware and software decoding and play the channel again.
- Report the channel. If one channel stays silent, send its name to IPTV Strong 8K on WhatsApp so the feed can be checked.
Soundbars and receivers
With a soundbar or AV receiver, passthrough is worth keeping on, because it lets the soundbar decode Dolby itself. In that case check that the TV passes audio over HDMI ARC or eARC and that the soundbar is on the right input. Setting the TV’s digital audio output to Auto or Bitstream usually brings the sound back.
