Setup guide

Sparkle TV is a paid app; its fee goes to the developer, separately from your IPTV plan. 4K is no problem for the TiVo Stream 4K; give it a 25 Mbps connection and a 4K TV and the sharper feeds hold up. Choose a plan, message us on WhatsApp, and expect your login details in about a minute.

Prep, in four lines: Sparkle TV on TiVo Stream 4K

Sparkle TV on TiVo Stream 4K: Prep, in four lines

  • Your login from WhatsApp: server URL (with port), username and password
  • Unknown apps allowed for Downloader, only if Google Play does not list the app
  • Plan on about 10 Mbps for each HD stream and 25 Mbps for each 4K stream
  • A faster way to type: a USB or Bluetooth keyboard, or the remote app on your phone

The setup, in order

Sparkle TV on TiVo Stream 4K: The setup, in order

  • Pick a plan length, send the order on WhatsApp, and keep the reply open: it holds the server URL, username and password.
  • Open Google Play on the TiVo Stream 4K and install Sparkle TV. If it's missing from the store, sideload it with Downloader after allowing unknown apps under Settings > Apps > Security & restrictions.
  • In Sparkle TV, pick the Xtream Codes or XC API option, then type the server URL, username and password from your WhatsApp message. All three are case-sensitive.
  • Let Sparkle TV download the channel list and guide (a minute or two the first time), then add your regular channels to favorites.

Small tweaks, smoother playback

Sparkle TV on TiVo Stream 4K: Small tweaks, smoother playback

  • An Ethernet adapter is the biggest single upgrade for a stick on weak Wi-Fi.
  • Clear the player's cache from the system app settings if the guide starts lagging.
  • Use the HDMI extender that came in the box if the port is cramped; it helps Wi-Fi reception and heat.
  • Buffer: a medium buffer of about 2 to 3 seconds smooths short dips without adding much delay.

After you sign in

Expect a short wait on first sign-in while Sparkle TV downloads the playlist and guide. Then you'll see channel groups by category and country; open one, highlight a channel, and the guide shows what's on now and next.

Troubleshooting

Sparkle TV on TiVo Stream 4K: Troubleshooting

  • "Invalid credentials": retype the server URL with http:// and the port, and check capital letters; the username and password are case-sensitive.
  • Sparkle TV closes on its own: clear its cache, restart the TiVo Stream 4K, and reinstall if it keeps happening.
  • Picture but no sound: set the TiVo Stream 4K's audio output to stereo or PCM; some soundbars refuse surround passthrough from IPTV feeds.
  • Guide off by an hour or more: check the TiVo Stream 4K's time zone first, then the EPG offset in Sparkle TV.
